Hi, I'm Rachel.

A few years ago I could barely boil water.

True story.

Determined to be a kick ass wife, I developed a love for football and learned to cook in my tiny Jersey City kitchen. I spend my days working in Manhattan, my nights and weekends chasing after a rambunctious toddler, and the hours in between cooking with my husband and feeding my TV habit...oh, and I blog about it all!

This Week...

If you like what you see here, be sure to 'like' us on Facebook and follow me on Twitter for more content, to share ideas or just to say hi!

I started dreaming of pumpkin. Things like cheesecake and spice cake and pumpkin butter and trifles, oh my!

I ate Reese's peanut butter cups for dinner

I realized that Boardwalk Empire starts on Sunday. And in a cool, awesome promo (once again proving why both NYC & HBO equally rock), the 2/3 subway line has been turned over to 1920s-style vintage subway cars. It's really too cool in my opinion! See the video of it in action below:

We found a home for our terrace visitor. I have no doubt that there will be whining, crying, scratching, clawing and hiding when she leaves us tomorrow. And I think the cat might be a little upset too. But she's going to a fantastic new home, so I can't be that upset. I was the one warning Shaun not to get too attached and yet I'm the one being an emotional train wreck about the situation. But wouldn't you be with this face?

We went to a party in our building last night. I ate and drank {way} more than I planned.

I ordered lighting fixtures! Yay! Once they all arrive, I can finally schedule the electrician to come and install them. I'm freakishly happy about this development! I'll post photos, but here's a sneak peak of what we picked out for over our dining table. It's an oversized drum shade from Shades of Light and I think will be perfect for our urban loft! {for more decorating updates, check out my bedroom mood board!}

I made a new dip for game day. Greek Layer Dip! It's destined to be a staple in our game day repetoire.

I took a DSLR class with my friend Danielle. It was so educational and absolutely perfect for a camera novice such as myself. If you're in the market, I highly recommend checking out DSLR Workshops by Okello Dunkley. I believe he gives the workshops all over the country.

I realized that I am so ready for the weekend!

On our plate this weekend, we have a birthday celebration for Shaun's brother, some home DIY stuff, a trip to Ikea and getting started on picking out paint swatches and starting a new kitchen project...I'm putting in a kitchen office nook! I'm so excited about this. I can't wait to share this project with you and I will as it develops :)

This Week...

I realized that unplugging is good for a little while. Not good when it's caused by falling trees, but still a good thing in general.

downed tree in front of my parents house. yikes!

I found the wonder of the mashed potato bar. I'm thinking of making a permanent one in my apartment. Mashed potato martini, anyone?

I think Shaun and I decided on some colors to paint our walls. I'm sorta kinda excited now, instead of being filled with dread. For the entryway/kitchen/living room, we're thinking an icy blue. Our place is already dotted with red and I think blue will be a bright, happy complement. Image found here via Pinterest.

For our master bathroom, I also want something bright and cheery. After finding this image via Pinterest, I thought this fun artichoke color would be nice to complement our light brown tiled back splash (which came with our place when we moved in).

Next up, we'll have to figure out the bedroom (I'm thinking a deep gray or brown? Something on the bold side) and the den (no ideas there).

I had {a loooong overdue} dinner with Lindsey at La Carbonara, our favorite spot.

The Giants played twice! Yay! I am so excited for football season to official start next week!

I decided that I despise the new Target Back to School commercial. I see it all the time now and I just think it's annoying. And makes me not like Target so much (which I ususally love) and it kinda makes me want to gauge my own eyes out.

I gathered all my supplies to make a giant batch of fruit pops for a party this weekend. I might even be making another dip to go with them this time...I'll keep you posted!

So that's what's going on with me this week!

Questions of the Day:

What did you do this week?

What are your weekend plans?

psst...We're sharing our peaches (highs) and pits (lows) of the week over on The Peach & The Pit. Head on over to share yours too!

A Tiramisu Bar, Love Grown Granola, Harry Potter + more

Happy Friday friends! It's felt like a long week. But a good one. I'm so ready for the weekend though!

A few fun things this week...

...I stumbled upon this Tiramisu Bar right near the Christopher St. Path station. I fell in love with the rice pudding bar in Soho, and now I am soooo excited to get my tiramisu on! Dolce Vizio Tiramisu is first on my list of places to try. What will they come up with next?

...I saw Harry Potter {finally}. I thought it was truly fantastic. The effects were wild, the story perfection. Ralph Fiennes = awesomeness. I cried an irrational amount. I can't wait to see it again :)

...I came home from vacation to a big box of granola from Love Grown Foods. Talk about a welcome home! I was so excited to dig in and it did not disappoint! My favorite part about this granola is that it tastes like I made it in my own kitchen - not store-bought like many other granolas or granola bars. Shaun and I will likely devour all of these bags in the coming days. The flavors include Sweet Cranberry Pecan (decidedly my favorite), Apple Walnut Delight, Raisin Almond Crunch, Simply Oats & Cocoa Goodness.

...I concocted a new scrambled egg sandwich that I can't wait to tell you about. Next week, I promise!

...Shaun and I continued watching The Walking Dead. I am officially obsessed. It's about a sheriff who is shot and in a coma for and undecided amount of time. When he awakes, most of the human population is gone...and they've been replaced by zombies! I know, it sounds so ridiculous...and it is. But it is SO good! Like Breaking Bad (another AMC show), The Walking Dead gives me anxiety at every turn. And to me, that's the sign of a good show.

...It's also the return of Jersey Shore! I know, it's terrible...but it's just good TV. I can't look away and I love it.

...I fell in love with OPI Austin-tacious Turquoise after rocking it in Aruba. It's pretty.

So there you have it. All the things I love this week. Now I am psyched to get through the work day and go get my license renewed (just kidding...not too excited about that one!). I am psyched to hang out at home tonight and just have a nice weekend!

Questions of the Day:

What are you loving this week?

What are your plans for this weekend?
