Hi, I'm Rachel.

A few years ago I could barely boil water.

True story.

Determined to be a kick ass wife, I developed a love for football and learned to cook in my tiny Jersey City kitchen. I spend my days working in Manhattan, my nights and weekends chasing after a rambunctious toddler, and the hours in between cooking with my husband and feeding my TV habit...oh, and I blog about it all!

Welcome to my world!

july 4th weekend

striped oxford shirt dress / american flag sunglasses / firecracker pop / ikat swimsuit / a comedy classic / saltwater sandals / patriotic cocktail / star-studded scarf

Though we will be in Aruba for July 4th, we plan to celebrate our American heritage in full force while away. In true Type A form, I ordered various flag shirts for Shaun, Penelope and me months ago and they are neatly packed and ready to go. Shaun got me these flag sweet sunglasses and I picked up some red white and blue garland to decorate our spot on the beach for the weekend. I'm still loving my saltwater sandals and silently crushing on this swimsuit, dress + scarf. I hope you have a wonderful 4th of July!

Easter Weekend in Pictures

Easter already feels like a distant memory at this point, save for those remnants of candy still lingering around and haunting me. Last night I ceremoniously ate my annual Reese's peanut butter egg and it was just as good as I remember it being. Though the holiday is passed and we are now full-swing into Spring, I still wanted to recap our Easter weekend. As the years go by, I really love having a little journal of holidays and special weekends. And so today I'm recapping our 2015 Easter celebration in pictures! We spent Saturday celebrating with my family at my aunt's house, and Sunday with Shaun's family at their house. Penelope woke up with a fever on Sunday morning so we unfortunately skipped church, but still enjoyed the rest of our Easter Sunday!

8 Fun Easter Eats

chick cupcakes (similar)/Peeps cake (similar)/chocolate malt cupcakes/Peepza pie/white chocolate pretzel bark/spring cupcakes/homemade peanut butter eggs/jelly bean cookies

It certainly doesn't feel like it, but Easter is right around the corner! We will be celebrating with family on both Saturday and Sunday next weekend and I'm starting to think about what goodies I want to make. In the past, I've gone for some subtle spring cupcakes, but this year, I'm thinking that Penelope might enjoy something Peep-related, or a fun bunny cupcake situation. I have a little time to plan, but it prompted a peek into the archives of Easter's past. Above are 8 fun Easter eats that I've made or enjoyed in the past (last year, my cousin made the cute chick & bunny cupcakes, and my mom made the Peeps cake). I don't have much that I need to have for Easter Sunday, as long as there's tons of food and pretty colors.

What are you planning to make or enjoy for Easter this year? What are your must-have Easter eats?
