Hi, I'm Rachel.

A few years ago I could barely boil water.

True story.

Determined to be a kick ass wife, I developed a love for football and learned to cook in my tiny Jersey City kitchen. I spend my days working in Manhattan, my nights and weekends chasing after a rambunctious toddler, and the hours in between cooking with my husband and feeding my TV habit...oh, and I blog about it all!

Welcome to my world!

Falling for Good TV

We are full swing into fall and I'm rounding up my favorite show picks for the season!

Always first on the list: Sons of Anarchy! It's the final season and though it's been hard to watch (Jax, WWTT?), I'm savoring every last moment, especially those featuring a shirtless Charlie Hunnam and a soundtrack that just keeps getting better and better. I'm not quite sure where this season is going, but I'm happy to go along for the ride.

Favorite new show:
How to Get Away With Murder. I knew that any Shonda Rimes show deserved at least a look and I'm so glad we tuned in for this one. There was a lot set up in this first ep and I can't wait to see where it goes. Bonus surprise appearance by the always exciting Billy Brown, AKA Mike from Dexter and Sons' August March.

The Mindy Project: I'm late to the party on this one but this is one of my new favorite shows. So funny, so sweet and features fun guest appearances by Always Sunny alum.

New Girl: I've watched since the beginning and while this one struggles for me at times, the addition of Daman Wayans, Jr. breathed some new life into the show. It's clear he got some of those stellar comedic genes and destined for a long and hilarious career.

Parenthood: Always one of my favorite shows and kind of a sleeper hit in that I always forget how great this show is until I sit down to watch it. It's the final season and I'm sure extra tissues will be needed for these last 13 eps.

Orange is the New Black: It's not new, but we are still getting through it. The second season just isn't as gripping for me as the freshman offering, but I'm still excited to watch the rest.

Jeopardy: Our nightly staple. Is it weird that I was positively giddy when new eps began airing and we could stop tuning in to Tournament of the Decades reruns?

The Walking Dead: Season 5 premieres on Oct 12, and I'm counting down the days. Last season really upped its game (look at the flowers. Lizzie! gah!), and left us wondering...what is Terminus? is cannibalism now a thing? am I crazy or was there something happening between Beth & Darryl? Where is Beth?! These are the questions I need answered.

So that's what I'm loving on TV lately.

What are your favorite shows this Fall?

Fall TV Obsession

Can we talk about television for a moment?

I feel like I often want to talk about television and it's no secret that I have a major mild obsession with the tube.

I can't help it...I love me some good TV.

I know that TV gets a bad wrap when it is compared to the silver screen, but give me a good season of dramatic TV on DVD any day and I will gladly take it home and OD on it in a mere weekend.

A movie, however? You'll probably find me snoring (or at least breathing with my mouth open, according to my husband) in about 30 minutes flat.

So anyway.

You might say that I have a bit of a problem. And I've brought Shaun over to the dark side. Here's what we're loving this Fall...let's take it from Sunday night, shall we? It's by far our most TV-filled evening. Just when I thought we had it all figured out and the DVR set up properly, The Walking Dead went and started and threw a wrench into our whole master plan. C'est la vie, I guess.

Oh and as a side note...yes I realize that the below list is truly insane, and yes our DVR is carefully orchestrated, and yes, we are now behind on almost every show and already in stockpile mode!

Dexter (Sunday 9PM, Showtime)

Boardwalk Empire (Sunday 9PM, HBO)

The Walking Dead (Sunday 9PM, AMC)

Homeland (Sunday 10PM, Showtime)

How I Met Your Mother (Monday 8PM, CBS)

Castle (Monday 10PM, ABC)

Sons of Anarchy (Tuesday 9PM, FX) ---->We are still a season behind, but are stockpiling the current season so that we can dive right in when we're caught up! We had to wait 6 months for the last DVD to come out and I won't be making that mistake again.

New Girl (Tuesday 9PM, FOX)

Parenthood (Tuesday 10PM, NBC)

Modern Family (Wednesday 8PM, ABC)

American Horror Story (Wednesday 10PM, FX) --->Starts tonight! Don't watch it alone! I'm scared just looking at this photo!

30 Rock (Thursday 8PM, NBC)

Fringe (Friday 9PM, FOX)

Fashion Police (Friday 10PM, E!)

Sooooo....

yeah.

I think that's it.

As a side note, I will tell you that I have in fact given up a number of shows, so that counts for something, right?

Right?!

These include but are not limited to: Jersey Shore, The Office, Up All Night (this one makes me sad because it was so good last season).

Now it's your turn.

What shows are you watching lately? What are you loving? What am I missing out on?

The Weekend.

This weekend flew by in an instant, as it usually tends to do. I feel like we packed in a whole bunch of things and so here's just a little peak into the weekend dish!

We ate pizza. You can never go wrong with this on a Friday evening.

We watched Fringe on Friday evening. Man I love this show. I have a feeling it will not be back next season, so I'm trying to soak it up while it lasts!

I got a haircut. Nothing too drastic. Just a nice shortening and thinning. I like it a lot. Thanks to The Art of Hair for an affordable, solid haircut!

I met my new cousin. So adorable and tiny!

We ran a 5K with our friends. The race was organized by my great friend Kristen. It was a fantastic race for a great cause. I forgot to snap a photo, but here's one from last year's...

I napped. This almost never happens.

I watched The Notebook. Ah this movie. It's been such a long time since I've seen it and when I came across it on ABC Family while Shaun was watching basketball, I couldn't help but get sucked in. It was just as good as ever. It never gets old.

I listened to the Ghost soundtrack! Ah full blown obsession commencing...

I watched like 6 episodes of Pioneer Woman. I'm starting to really enjoy this show. I would never make most of her dishes because they are unnecessarily butter-laden, but I enjoy her creative eats and living on a ranch just looks like fun.

I realized that Easter is in 2 weeks! Fun. I love Easter! I can't wait to get in the kitchen and make up some fun eats, like my Peepza Pie from last year. You can also find these and many other Peeps recipes on Love From the Oven today.

So that was my weekend. I crammed in quite a lot, didn't I? I can't believe Monday is already here. Let's make it a great week, shall we?

How did you spend your weekend? Share some highlights!
