A Weekend of Lasts
Good morning sunshine!
Actually, this morning I woke up to no sunshine at all...instead, it was darkness, fog and humidity. It's supposed to be almost 60 degrees in New York City today and I have to admit that I'm not really into it. I'm glad that it's not snowy or icy, but I look forward to the wintertime so that I won't be sweating on my walk to work.
I picked up some steel cut oats with dried cranberries and raisins for a hearty little treat to start the day.
This weekend Shaun and I decided to really soak up some lasts, now that almost all of our baby prep is complete. Friday night was spent on the couch watching 3 episodes of Sons of Anarchy season 4. Even with all of the TV that we watch, this show remains one of my all-time favorites. The writing is incredible, the acting top notch and staring at Charlie Hunnam for a few hours isn't the worst way to spend an evening.
On Saturday morning we were up early and off to the movies!
We have really loved having some time to hit the movies and thoroughly enjoy going to the first showing of the day. It's less crowded, less $$ and doesn't feel like it takes up such a large chunk of time. We settled in with a bag of popcorn and watched Silver Linings Playbook. I've loved Bradley Cooper since his Alias days. This one did not disappoint. Though the subject matter was a bit heavy, we both found it to be an enjoyable and easy movie to watch. I love Oscar season!
Immediately after the movie, I decided to treat myself to a {long overdue} mani/pedi while Shaun did a bit of shopping.
I went with Wooden Shoe Like to Know (teehee) from OPI's Holland collection. It's brown with a hint of purple and gold shimmer and looks just lovely as a winter shade. Since I've been unable to reach my toes in quite some time, a pedicure never felt so good!
Saturday night we were back on the couch for more SOA. Good times.
And Sunday? We continued our indulgent 'lasts' weekend with a stop at the Brownstone Diner in Jersey City for...what else?...pancakes!
On Sunday evening, I spent the night with my mom and sister Kimberly watching the Golden Globes. I always love seeing the fashion the most and there were some serious knockouts last night! I thought Clare Danes was stunning (maybe I'm biased though, since she just gave birth about a month ago!). Other favorites included Jennifer Lawrence, Tina Fey (that blue dress! amazing!), Jennifer Garner and Zooey Deschanel.
And that brings me to this dreary Monday...though I think the sun might be trying to come out! Here's hoping!
Have a great week everyone!
How did you spend your weekend?
What great movies have you seen lately? We also saw Django Unchained last week and LOVED it!

okay love the nail polish choice and so jealous you got to see Silver Linings Playbook. My husband and I want to see it so bad. I just adore her now ever since the hunger games! So excited the baby is getting closer and closer to being here
It's so refreshing to hear that you are taking full advantage of your time left as a twosome! I just had a baby last August and from the day she came...everything changed! Defnitely in a good way...just a different way. You just can't do what you want! Glad you are enjoying yourself!
Your weekend sounds wonderful! Before my sisters gave birth to my 3 nieces, we all went for mani/pedi's. It's an absolute must and your color selection rocks! I spent my weekend going an a nice "date night" with the hubby, then doing some shopping at Target and Micheal's before heading to my sister's house to watch the Ravens game with some friends. Sunday was spent at church and then lunch and cupcakes with my sisters, bro-in-laws, and nieces. It was a great weekend! Good luck with everything leading up to the baby's arrival!
love your nail polish!!! I totally miss going to the movies! We used to go a lot, but not so much since little Miss P arrived. I think it's great that you two are making an effort to enjoy your time together
I loved Silver Linings Playbook! Sounds like you had a really great weekend :)
