What I Ate: A Day in the Life
So I've never really put together a full day of documented eats for you. I guess because I've a) never actually documented a full day of eats and b) wondered if it would be all that interesting! Many blogs focus on daily eats, but TAA has never been one of them.
But yesterday I thought it would be fun to document what I ate for the day and share it with you! Please note that this is a typical weekday of eating for me and this suits my own level of hunger. I'm definitely not advocating for eating any certain way, just thought it would be fun to share my own day of eats!
I usually don't eat breakfast before I leave the house in the morning, though sometimes Shaun will make eggs for me and in that case, I'll eat them at home. Yesterday, I started the day with a turkey sausage and egg burrito that I had made on Sunday, frozen for the week, and reheated in the office. I also stuff the whole wheat burrito with a little onion and bell pepper and a tablespoon of reduced fat cheddar.
I accompanied the burrito with a cup of coffee and a glass of water (in our classy Schaefer beer glasses from the office!).
For lunch, I brought a big salad! I whipped up a giant salad on Sunday to last for the week. In the mix are: romaine hearts, baby spinach, red onions, bell peppers, cucucumbers, kalamata olives, reduced fat feta and roasted chicken. I topped the salad with a homemade vinaigrette of red wine vinegar, dijon mustard and olive oil.
Oh and on the side? A string cheese!
By the time lunch passed, my desk looked like this:
A desk of drinks! I had another mid-morning coffee (thanks Laur!) and a glass of Diet Coke with lunch.
Around 4pm, I usually have a snack of some sort of fruit or vegetable. On yesterday's menu? A cut up banana with a scoop of Better 'n Peanut Butter. Such a treat!
For dinner, we had some leftovers from Monday night. We had Tex Mex rice bowls! In the mix: rice, ground turkey, reduced sodium taco seasoning + water, corn, black beans, a little chili powder and kosher salt. Ok I wish that I had included some sort of veggie here, but to be honest, I just didn't have it in me last night. We microwaved dinner and collapsed on the couch for an evening of nail polishing (me), Mets (Shaun), Jeopardy, New Girl and No Reservations.
And for dessert? Usually I would eat something a little lighter on a weeknight like a banana with chocolate syrup, a smoothie or shake, some sugar-free pudding or a berry trifle, but my good friend Erin brought me a little treat in the afternoon to cheer me up after a tough day (so thoughtful!)...a red velvet cupcake from Amy's Bread! I couldn't resist, so I ate that for dessert :)
So there you have it. A day full of eats. After looking at it all documented, I only wish that I had mixed in more vegetables, especially at dinner. Oh well...today is another day!

love that you slice up your banana to dip it in pb. genius!
Sometimes I'm really good at documenting my eats and sometimes (read: most days) I'm pretty horrible - mainly because I eat the same thing every day, every meal. I usually only mix things up on the weekends! Loved seeing what you eat (and kudos on the regular hydration)! I always cut up my bananas when I eat them... not sure why, exactly, it just seems right! =)
was the homemade frozen burrito a success?
At first I thought you were actually having a beer with coffee... and thought, this girl doesn't mess around. haha, now I see it's just a glass.
Banana and peanut butter is a perfect snack. yum in the tum.

I'm a sucker for 'what I ate' posts. I guess it's the reason I read so many healthy living blogs. :) Thanks for sharing a little glimpse into your day.
