Hi, I'm Rachel.

A few years ago I could barely boil water.

True story.

Determined to be a kick ass wife, I developed a love for football and learned to cook in my tiny Jersey City kitchen. I spend my days working in Manhattan, my nights and weekends chasing after a rambunctious toddler, and the hours in between cooking with my husband and feeding my TV habit...oh, and I blog about it all!

Welcome to my world!

Tuesday Things

1. I finally went back to the gym last night. This morning my body feels like it has turned on me. Sore body, sleepy eyes and strained neck are not making me happy today.

2. Shaun and I are both kinda sorta into Ice Loves Coco. Is anyone watching this? We actually look forward to it each Sunday night. I'm oddly captivated by a hardcore rapper turned family man and Law & Order actor and his simply adorable wife.

It's actually quite sweet to see Ice simply do what makes his wife happy. Call me crazy {and I know it's reality TV} but they actually seem like a normal, happy couple. No train wrecks, no drama. It just makes me smile. I think I'm going to need a bejeweled computer skin that says Rachel's World {like the Coco's World one on the show}...don't you think?

3. Some guy is suing AMC Theaters because their concession prices are astronomical. I actually do always buy popcorn when I go to the movies...I feel like it's such a treat, but $6+ for popcorn? I'm glad someone is standing up because I feel incredibly taken advantage of every time we go. Do you buy concessions at the movies?

4. I finished reading T.R. Ragan's Abducted and the sequel, Dead Weight. Abducted was a solid read...Dead Weight, not so much. Either way they were easy reads and got me back on the reading train!

5. I seriously switched gears and am now reading Pride & Prejudice. I realized that I need to read 5 classic novels by July and so I decided to get started. I had never read this book but have always had it on my list to get to. I'm a few pages in and getting used to the language. So far, so good. What classics can you recommend for me to add to the list?

6. I wish I had some of these chocolate stout cupcakes with Bailey's frosting made and ready to eat today:

I really need to make them soon. You can too.

7. I'd also settle for some Irish oatmeal cake. Just sayin'.

8. Has anyone seen The Walking Dead from Sunday? Holy @#$%. I actually felt ill after the final scene, and not because of the gore. So incredibly designed, captivatingly shot, and amazingly acted. Wow. Head over to the TAA Facebook page if you want to discuss!

Questions of the Day:

What TV Shows are you watching lately?

What classic reads can you recommend? Thanks for the suggestions on the FB page yesterday!

What are your things on this Tuesday?

I LOVE ICE LOVES COCO! I can honestly say it's one of the shows that I truly miss watching here since I can't here in Spain :( I'm so happy you watch it too because I'm pretty sure Christine thinks I'm crazy for it :)

Danielle, you are the reason we started watching it last year in Aruba! And now we are obsessed!! Hope Spain is awesome, can't wait to hear about it!

I recently saw the E True Hollywood Story on Ice & Coco and kind of loved it :)

First trips back to the gym are always brutal... just a few more workouts and you will be back to normal:-)

I havnt been to the cinema in so long,im pretty sure our tubs of popcorn are more than £5 now. I remember as a kid i always put snacks and drinks in my bag so i didnt have to pay those kinds of prices, infact i would probably still do that if i had the chance to go to the cinema!

It's often more money for the snacks than for the admission so I've stopped getting anything - even a soda. I usually pop a few sugar free candies - in case of emergency ;-). At the concession stand they always ask you if you want to get the next size for just 25/50 cents more - I always ask if for $1.00 will they let me put my head under the soda tap until I explode???
I get the weirdest looks - wonder why?

I'm really liking Ice and Coco, too. They DO seem like a genuinely "in love" couple. I like Khloe and Lamar, too. If either couple ever breaks up (knock on wood)... I will be heartbroken.
Wasn't Sunday's episode of The Walking Dead CRAZY!!! Oh my! I was screaming at the end. Stupid, Carl! hahah that show is great TV!
I am preparing for next weekend's St. Patty's day feast! Those desserts look like they need to be added to it. So yummy.
As for the theater lawsuit, I think the prices are so ridiculous! I get the kid's pack to save on money and calories but even THAT is expensive. I wonder what will come from this!

You have introduced me to the Walking Dead and I'm done with Season 1. Looking for Season 2 to be available on Netflix and I hope it comes soon!!!

I don't have cable but we watched Ice Loves Coco one day at someone's house. I do like how they just make them seem just normal without drama like you see on every other show.

I'm a total sucker for reality tv - and I've been eyeing Ice Loves Coco, but since I have to purchase it on iTunes to watch it, I haven't yet! I'm definitely going to now! Love it!

I'm, as always, in love with Project Runway (even though I miss Tim Gunn for the All Stars Season), Castle, and The Bachelor (sadly). I'm WAY excited for the new fashion show on NBC!

HI Rachel!
Classic: Wuthering Heights. I read it in high school, then went back & read it again a few years ago.
New TV Show: We just watched NBC's pilot of AWAKE that aired last Thursday night. This might be good! My husband & I both enjoyed it.
And we do not spend $$ on food at the movies. It's just too much!!!!

Anything by Jane Austin is amazing, as well as the book Jane Eyre. Enjoy! :)
