Hi, I'm Rachel.

A few years ago I could barely boil water.

True story.

Determined to be a kick ass wife, I developed a love for football and learned to cook in my tiny Jersey City kitchen. I spend my days working in Manhattan, my nights and weekends chasing after a rambunctious toddler, and the hours in between cooking with my husband and feeding my TV habit...oh, and I blog about it all!

It's in the {baby's hospital} bag

As we're getting down to the wire, and I've washed more baby clothes than I can count, I finally got around to packing Baby Girl's hospital bag.

I know, I know. The hospital will have everything we need and all I need is a going home outfit for her.

Well...I don't care. Like any girl (or any Cannon girl for that matter), she needs to have options.

In truth, we received so many adorable and amazing things for the baby that I couldn't help but overpack for her. I plan to have some different outfits for her to wear for photos and when we have visitors. Even if we end up using 1 out of the many things I've packed, I'm ok with it.

So without further ado:

Let's take it from the top, shall we?

First up, I packed up a gorgeously soft pink stroller blanket from my parents and I bought her a sweet little baby Northface bunting. These are for the day we go home...in case it's very cold, the suit is thin enough for the carseat and the blanket can cover her on top of that. Next up, 1 aden+anais swaddle blanket and a receiving blanket. I brought two very different ones so that we'll have nice photos of her with each. And while we're talking about photos, I packed a few hats that she can wear throughout the stay.

Next, I picked out a few little outfits for during the day. A sweet elephant gown with matching bib and a cute onesie. For her going home outfit, I love the blue floral gown and matching hat (I can just picture her curled up in this!). I also threw in 2 pairs of newborn fleece jammies...just in case it's cold. I love the leopard print...nothing says "I'm from Jersey!" quite like it ;)

I threw in a couple of diapers and travel wipes, just in case. I know we won't use these in the hospital at all, but if we need a pitstop on our 10 minute ride home, I'll be happy I came prepared. Right?

Lastly, I added a soft bear hat, some booties, socks and mittens.

I packed it all up in the new diaper bag that we received from my baby shower. It's a tight fit, but it's all set and ready:

And lastly, I plan to also bring the Boppy pillow.

Next up is putting the finishing touches on the bag for myself, which I'll share next week! I'm so excited for these final weeks (or days?). It's unreal to imagine that my sweet baby girl will be filling up these little outfits so soon.

So what do you think?

Am I missing anything?

How about a bow for her hair for pictures. Did you get any of those bows that wrap around her head?

If you have a baby book for her, you might want to take it also. The nurses can put her newborn footprints and handprints in it for you.

SO exciting. I did the same thing, however, I only used her going home outfit and a cute pink cap with a big flower on it for her first photoshoot (Becky) that is. I had something similar to the northface fleece, but the nurses would not let me leave with her in it. She had to be in her outfit and a blanket around. Boppy is a must! However, you may be too sore to want it around you. Best of luck, Rachel!

Yay! Baby time is going to be so soon! I am so excited for you guys :) nothing is more amazing then coming home with your new little girl
I think you have all the essentials for your baby girl :) Diapers are a must, our hospital used cloth diapers so we had to have some of our own diapers to take her home in (some of my friends didnt know and had to send the dad out for diapers while the mom and baby were being checked out of the hospital! haha)
as for your bag, definitely pack yourself something to drink (gatorade or juice) and some snacks. depending on when you deliver it may be a while before the hospital has it's next meal, and while you wont be hungry during labour as soon as that baby is out and getting cleaned up you will be starving! it was amazing how fast my hunger hit hahaha
I know you will do amazing :) congratulations again!
