Hi, I'm Rachel.

A few years ago I could barely boil water.

True story.

Determined to be a kick ass wife, I developed a love for football and learned to cook in my tiny Jersey City kitchen. I spend my days working in Manhattan, my nights and weekends chasing after a rambunctious toddler, and the hours in between cooking with my husband and feeding my TV habit...oh, and I blog about it all!

Scenes from the Birthday

Good morning! This weekend was this guy's birthday...

For his actualy birthday on Sunday, Shaun chose an ice cream cake! It was so long since I've had ice cream cake, and it was fantastic. I love those little crunchies!

We had so much fun celebrating with friends on Saturday and Shaun's family on Sunday. On Saturday, we had an apartment full of friends, fun and laughter! Oh and of course lots of food!

My friend Laura and me...Laura is getting married next Saturday! Congrats Laura! Can't wait to celebrate with you and John next weekend

I love when our home is filled with friends!

In addition to lots of delicious dips, we dined on pulled barbecued chicken sandwiches, chicken salad veronique and orzo salad.

For dessert? Boston cream cupcakes and potato chip shortbread cookies with salted chocolate glaze.

And our favorite drink of the night? Bethenny's SkinnyGirl Margarita! Kimberly brought this over and I was so excited to give it a try. I'll have a write up this week for ya!

I can't wait to share some of the great recipes from the party with you guys this week! For now I'll leave you with that photo montage. How did you spend your weekend? What's your go-to party drink?

I am still in shock at just HOW DELICIOUS skinny girl margaritas are - I could go for some now!

I have tried the skinny girl margaritas and think they're disgusting. Sometimes I just can't stand the "healthier" version of things, and mixed drinks are one of them!

Happy birthday to your hubby!

Happy Birthday Shaun!! Potato chip short bread cookies...yes, please. Can't wait for that recipe!

I can't wait for some of those recipes and I'm curious about those margaritas! Looks like a fantastic birthday party!

looks like a great time. My BFF and I love Bethenny! I gave her a bottle for Christmas, but had to order it from NY...they didn't sell it here in WA. Might have to have some on Cinco de Mayo!

How fun!! Having friends over is always a blast. Those shortbread cookies look amazing!

This weekend I ran my second ever 5K! It was for Donate Life and the 90's group All 4 One was there...so fun!

Congrats Joanna! Did they sing I Swear?!

Looks like a fun weekend! I love the sound of the potato chip shortbread cookies.

We finally got a gorgeous, sunny day yesterday and I went for an 8-mile walk, including some great trails at a nearby park. It was so nice to actually feel warm outside!

Hi Rachel! I am a newbie to your blog and love it already! Can't wait to follow along! And my go to party drink is a glass of light white wine or a light beer. :)
