Hi, I'm Rachel.

A few years ago I could barely boil water.

True story.

Determined to be a kick ass wife, I developed a love for football and learned to cook in my tiny Jersey City kitchen. I spend my days working in Manhattan, my nights and weekends chasing after a rambunctious toddler, and the hours in between cooking with my husband and feeding my TV habit...oh, and I blog about it all!

Welcome to my world!

Holiday Cookie Giveaway

There’s been an awful lot of cookies going on around here lately, so I think it’s only fair to offer up a giant batch of ‘em for a couple of lucky - and wonderful - readers. A holiday gift from me to you, if you will. And since I love you guys, I’ll be choosing 2 winners for the homemade cookie giveaway.

Don’t say I don’t love you.

You’ll get: Holiday cookies, made by yours truly, in a pretty box with ribbon - perfect for bringing to a holiday party, giving as a gift or for personal consumption with a giant glass of milk or tea (my personal favorite of the aforementioned options)!

You can choose two batches of cookies from the following options (2 of one kind, or 2 different kinds):

Mint (or non-mint) Chocolate Crinkles

Eggnog Snickerdoodles

Chocolate Dipped Shortbread

Almond Sweets

White Chocolate Cherry Chunkies

The deets:
The giveaway opens...Now!
The giveaway ends Friday 12/17 at 12:00pm EST (that’s noon time, not midnight)
The winners - chosen at random - will be announced Friday evening here on the blog. Once chosen, please email me (theavidappetite@gmail.com) your home address asap to ensure Santa can get these to you before Christmas!
The goods will be shipped out on Monday via Priority Mail for delivery by Wednesday/Thursday - just in time for Christmas!

To enter:
1. Leave me a comment telling me your favorite cookie of all time. Is it homemade by Mom? Is it a Double Stuff Oreo? I’m not judging, just curious.
2. For an extra entry, subscribe to receive TAA email updates, which you can do in the left side bar by simply adding your email address and clicking enter!

Hope we’ll get lots of entries for this one since I can’t wait to get baking up your goodies this weekend. Oh and if you don’t celebrate Christmas, I can make all of these non-Christmas themed, so please still enter to win. After all, who doesn’t love cookies, regardless of religion?

Psst...We're still taking entries for our Virtual Cookie Swap! Email them on over (with photo, please!) to theavidappetite [at] gmail [dot] com, we'll continue posting them as they roll in!

I love all cookies! But I'd have to say my favorite is Martha Stewart's Oatmeal Applesauce cookies. I used to make them all the time for Thanksgiving desert! And I'm also a sucker for the Pillsbury sugar cookies in the cookie dough roll!

There are soooo many that are my favorite that it is really hard to just pick one but to choose only one I will have to go w/ the old staple and say my mom's homemade chocolate chip cookies are pretty amazing...especially if they are fresh out of the oven:-)

My favorite cookie brings me back to childhood and a family member that isn't around anymore - Rockyroad Cookies. My mother's uncle would pick them up for us every time he would go to the super market - the C-Town in my neighborhood use to sell them but they have been discontinued :( Yet, I remember how they look and they chewy texture - so yummy!

My neighbor recently dropped off the best chocolate chips cookies ever! They are chunky, full of chocolcate chips and delicious. I also recently tried the chocolate chip cookes at Jacques Torres in NYC and they are world class - especially when warmed up!

I do love double stuffed oreos ;) but my favorite are chocolate chip cookies from the king arthur cookbook. They're so soft and the best chocolate chip cookie recipe I've ever tried :)

Hmmm....favorite cookie?! Probably a toss between classic chocolate chip and those oversized ones from the grocery store bakery with M&M's in them. YUM.

My favorite cookie would have to be a toss up between Aunt' Janet's Chocolate Chip with NO nuts or italian 7 layer rainbow cookies!

I love most cookies but my top three are oatmeal raisin, monster cookies & girl scout thin mints! YUM!

ooooh. Really anything my mom makes...but especially her famous chocolate chip cookies. She uses only good quality ingredients, and doesn't skimp on the chocolate.
Loving your blog Rachel! You are like the cookie fairy. :)

I love love love an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie preferably warm and out of the oven and can't resist a super soft snickerdoodle. Homemade is a plus.

My favorite cookies are probably the blueberry walnut oatmeal cookies I make every winter, though they also work really well with craisins (and are slightly more festive that way).

All time fave are layered rainbow cookies. My favorite cookies to bake are candy cane cookies.
