Hi, I'm Rachel.

A few years ago I could barely boil water.

True story.

Determined to be a kick ass wife, I developed a love for football and learned to cook in my tiny Jersey City kitchen. I spend my days working in Manhattan, my nights and weekends chasing after a rambunctious toddler, and the hours in between cooking with my husband and feeding my TV habit...oh, and I blog about it all!

Manhattan-Obsessed? Tell us...

So I came to the realization that perhaps I’m not the only Manhattan-obsessed chick out there, and that there must be many others like myself hoping to share their city stories. With that in mind, It Happened Between JC and Manhattan is now looking for guest writers! Here’s the scoop…

Who:

City dwellers, suburbanites, and those in between with something interesting to share. Both chicks and dudes welcome.
What:
Since there’s a pretty broad scope of topic on the site, we are open to suggestions. Some thoughts of what may qualify:
City Tips: Tell us about tips for navigating the Big Apple. Sample titles could range from “Subway, Rickshaw, or Plain Old Sneakers? The Best Way to Get Around” and “I Refuse To Spend $12 On Lunch Each Day”. You get the gist.
Eateries: This includes, but is not limited to little gems in obscure locale, taste-tests of new cuisine, cheap-yet-delicious food finds, trendy restaurants with a reason to go (other than it's the hip new place), and anywhere you just had a great experience and feel the need to shout about it.
Events: Tell us about what’s going on around the city. And don't limit it to Manhattan...Hoboken and Jersey City have festivals almost weekly, especially in the summertime.
Budget Things: Since this does happen to be one of the most expensive cities in the country, us Manhattan chicks & dudes are always looking to save a buck in any way possible. Ideas on the subject? Don’t hold out…please share them.
Rants: While we love to rave about fab things and places, sometimes seemingly awesome things can be a real let down and cause for a necessary rant. Tell us!
Top 5, 10, 20...: Why you like/love the city and its surrounding areas, or specific things you love in it. Sample articles could include, “Top Ten Outdoor Activities in Manhattan" and "Five Ways To Negotiate For A Chinatown Prado Bag"...humor is encouraged.
Questions/Suggestions: Is there something you want to know about that we aren't currently addressing? Do you have a specific question, such as where to find great fro-yo or something of the sort? If so, please write to us!

What You Get:
A by-line, a link back to your own site (if applicable), never-ending love from betweenjcandmanhattan.com, and a contributor’s shout out. Sadly, there's no $ to give...

How to Submit:

Articles, photos, and videos are all welcome and should be at least 200 words in length.* Please submit all entries to themanhattanchick@gmail.com.

*All submissions, whether copy, photo or video, are subject to appropriateness.
