It's a Habit

Rachel in What About Me Wednesday, habits

We all have them.

Some of them are good.

Some are not so good.

I have a few. Some are good...some are not so good.

1. I'm a picker. I think this is my worst habit of all time. I pick at everything. My number one victim of choice? My cuticles. I pick and pick until it hurts. It's a terrible habit friends. Shaun is convinced that my leathery thumb will eventually need to be amputated due to this terrible habit. I often keep my nails painted in an effort to stop the picking so that I don't ruin my manicure. Apparently the threat of pending amputation isn't enough, but fear of chipping my nail polish gets the job done.

2. I am a creature of habit. Yes, this in itself is a habit and one that I don't particularly like. I don't like change. I often do or eat the same things over and over since I find it comforting. This includes food. I will often order similar fare at a restaurant if I know that I love it. On Saturday, I spent the day shopping with my mom. Our favorite stop for lunch is the Nordstrom Cafe. They have the most delicious salads and soup. I always order the blue cheese and pear salad...a delicious dish topped with candied walnuts and champage vinaigrette.

And on the side? A cup of tomato soup. It's divine. Heavenly. And I order the same thing every time I go.

3. I'm on 2 cups a day. Since I started working, I've started almost each morning with a giant cup of coffee. It's not even the caffeine that I need so desperately, but the act of drinking a piping hot, creamy, and {of course} sweet cup of coffee that I love. Plus, it gives me something to do. That morning habit has creeped into a 2 cup habit since I had a cup after lunch a few times at work. Oh how easily habits are formed. Oh and I'm not talking about the baby cup size (as pictured below) either.

4. Glasses everywhere. Did you ever see that movie Signs? Where the little girl leaves glasses of water all over the house? Well that's me. Only I'm not protecting us from oncoming aliens. Instead, I just have a terrible habit of leaving half-drank glasses of water all over the house. I'm pretty sure that if Shaun ever kicks me to the curb, it will be over this dirty little habit. I'm trying to change, I swear.

Habits are a funny thing. If you think about it, so much of what we do everyday are habitual! I'd like to think that I have some good habits too...though I'm drawing a blank on those at the moment :) Does eating breakfast every morning count?

So there you have it. Some of my darkest secrets and habits. Most of them aren't pretty. So now it's your turn...what are some of your habits? Share the good and the bad!
