Hi, I'm Rachel.

A few years ago I could barely boil water.

True story.

Determined to be a kick ass wife, I developed a love for football and learned to cook in my tiny Jersey City kitchen. I spend my days working in Manhattan, my nights and weekends chasing after a rambunctious toddler, and the hours in between cooking with my husband and feeding my TV habit...oh, and I blog about it all!

Welcome to my world!

Cookiepalooza 2011 + A Holiday Goodies Giveaway!

Happy Monday everyone! I am seriously struggling this morning! I had a fantastic weekend, starting with an 8 hour baking session at my parents' house on Saturday. I spent the day with my mom, sister Kimberly and cousin Veronica making a big ol' mess in my mom's kitchen and whipping up a quick 10 batches of holiday cookies (all different kinds, I might add).

Needless to say, I'm still a bit exhausted today but I can't wait to share all the gorgeous photos with you! And to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year, I'm giving away a whole box of homemade holiday goodies, made by yours truly :) I hope you will all enter!! Head to the bottom of this post for entry details. Meanwhile....feast your eyes on some serious cookie porn!

We always have our favorite holiday staples in the baking mix, but this year, we added a whole bunch of new ones as well. One of my favorites is the chocolate cherry kisses. I think they are so gorgeously pink and delicious to boot.

Other classics on the list included raspberry-filled thumbprints (my favorite...they scream Christmas time to me!) and eggnog snickerdoodles...

We also added a lot of new ones, like cherry cheesecake cookies...

...and black and white cookies (wowza!)

...and peanut butter blossoms, filled with a chocolatey Hershey's Kiss...

We also whipped up these gorgeous cocoa thumbprints (which I think turned out to be the prettiest of the bunch!

The versions not pictured include salted chocolate caramel shortbread, seven layer Italian rainbow cookies and our classic butter cookie cutouts! It was such a fun day and by the end, my mom's kitchen looked like this:

...and even this little lady was all tuckered out...

And now to the good part.

Oh my goodness. I feel like i am in cookieland and it feels AWESOME to this cookie aholic! I love them all. They are too cute and too yummy! How much fun to be able to spend all day in the kitchen with your mom! My favorite cookie is the boring old Chocolate Chip Cookie. No matter how hard I try to find a new favorite I always come back to my choc chip!

This post if fo Kitchen belleicious. I agree there is nothing like choc. chip cookies, but one of our family members actually makes the best choc. chip cookies in the world and she litterally makes thousands every year. So we leave them to her. The highlight of my christmas cookies are hers.

wow...busy girl!!! my fav are actually not cookies but i only make them at xmas. toffee graham cracker squares! so good!

raspberry thumbprints look so good! i think my all time favorite christmas cookie is classic peanut butter with hershey kisses in the center- recipe from the back of the hershey kiss bag of course! :)

I love my mother-in-law's Christmas cutout recipe. We're lucky if there are any cookies left come Christmas!

Also, a good ol' fashioned chocolate chip is never a bad thing. The softer, the better!

Don't think I can choose just one cookie favorite...so I'll settle for two which would have to be chocolate chip (and not opposed to throwing some oatmeal up in there) and a snickerdoodle.

Your cookies look deeelish #mouthwatering

it's so hard to choose a FAVORITE cookie! i think my favorite holiday cookie is the peanut butter blossoms - we ALWAYS made those around the holidays when i was growing up, so they seem so festive to me!

Those look so good! I don't know how anyone can choose ONE favorite cookie...If I had to choose, I'd say peanut butter blossoms. Or sugar cookies, or chocolate chip, or snickerdoodles...this is difficult.

December 12, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterKate

The peanut butter blossoms of course!! How can anyone resist peanut butter and chocolate? Yum!!

December 12, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterNora

If I don't win will you at least be bringing some to Christmas Eve? they all look amazing! My favorite cookies are naturally those chocolate chip cookies that appear in my house on occasion. We get yelled at for stealing them but it's worth it. The past few years she's actually been nice enough to make a batch with nuts and one without so naturally they've gotten better :)

December 12, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterAlyson

Alyson, I always vote for WITH nuts! I don't understand why some of our family members prefer them without...oh well, more for me! :)

December 12, 2011 | Registered CommenterRachel

This might just be the best giveaway ever! Those cookies look absolutely delicious. I'd have to go with my grandmother's chocolate chip cookies - nothing beats 'em, and I can't seem to replicate them!

Your cookies look amazing! You've definitely inspired me to break out my apron and get moving on my Christmas cookies. My favorite cookie has to be a good, old fashioned shortbread cookie.

December 12, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterDominique

Wonderful pictures!! Thanks for sharing!
I always make the peanut butter blossoms.. Maybe they are my favorite. I love all kinds! - chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, and classic decorated sugar cookies like my mom always made with us (and now she does it with my nephews!)
